I am a recent Glendon graduate of 2026 and I have had the pleasure to complete a double major in English and History at Glendon College. I went to a complete french school in Toronto, not french immersion, but a totally different french system where everything was done in french and many of my peers first language was french.
This was the main reason I had chosen to go to Glendon, it was the only place in Ontario that offered a bilingual education with the majors that I wanted to study. My high school was also a very small high school with a graduating class of 50 people which made me choose Glendon for its smaller class sizes.
Now we know that these are all commonly advertised perks about Glendon, however there are a hundred more reasons as to why York needs to invest money and time into the Glendon campus to keep it running instead of amalgamating it into the York university campus. Glendon is not only a university campus but it’s somewhere that young students and mature students can all grow into the people they wanted to be
Glendon College also let me explore other interests in mind such as working at the Glendon Athletic Club. That is where I spent my four years working and this is where i found my family. Glendon students from different majors come to work in this gym and put the effort to walk up and down those Glendon stairs everyday to come to work to provide Faculty, other students and community members the chance to utilize a service that is so incredibly beneficial to everyone. The Glendon Athletic Club is where I found my best friends, roommates, now ex-partner, and every important person I have ever met. Removing Glendon college from the campus removes this aspect of community. We start to lose the students who are passionate about fitness, about the library, about any of the other services that are on this gorgeous grounds if the campus is to be amalgamated to the Keele campus.
I appreciate the time you have taken to read my email as Glendon has changed my life for the better and see the new life I’ve created that 13 year old Cris would have been proud to see.
